NLP Modeling - How To Acquire Any Skill or Expertise (Part 1)

One self hypnosis free the most essential strategies of NLP is modeling. In a nutshell, modeling is a technique of imitating the skills of another person until those skills are internalized and become your own. One of the first areas of expertise free self hypnosis modeling became an important tool was in skiing.

In the early self hypnosis for weight loss mid 20th century, it was commonly thought that a person was either born with the skills to become a great skier or the person was born without those skills.

Instructors thought they could teach a beginner a few basics, but after that, either their students had the right stuff or they didn’t.

Then along came slow motion photography. Students could then watch films of expert skiers and mimic their moves in front of the screen. What these students were doing was matching the physiology of the skiers as they watched them.

Modeling has since been adapted to help salespeople improve their selling skills, soldiers improve their marksmanship, golfers improve their swings (you knew golfers would quickly get hold of any way to improve their game, didn’t you?), lawyers improve their courtroom skills.

Nowadays, there is even a whole body of literature popping up on the internet to help insecure men learn to pick up women, just like rockstars and professional athletes. And guess what? These NLP techniques work and really are helping these men become more successful with women (we’ll leave the ethics of this for a later discussion).

Researchers have found that any skill or area of expertise can be modeled. Now realistically, not everyone has the physical talent to become a Tony Romo or a Tiger Woods. But within the limits of a person’s natural talents, an athlete can make huge gains by modeling one of the greats.

Literally no area of human accomplishment is out of bounds when it comes to modeling. In James Van Fleet’s book, Hidden Power, he even give the example of an Army officer who had had too much to drink at an officers’ party. Afraid that he was embarrassing himself, he went into the restroom and stood in front of the mirror.

Little by little, as he adjusted his posture and facial expression to what he saw of himself in the mirror, he “sobered” himself up. Now I don’t doubt for a minute that a modern blood-alcohol test would have nailed him, but to all visible appearances ,this man was sober for the rest of the evening.

He was able to do this because he had seen himself sober and also had a solid imprint of others in the state of sobriety. The mirror gave him the visual feedback he needed to adjust his physiology to match sobriety.

I don’t want to over simplify modeling for you. It requires a lot of study, both of the techniques to be used, and of the subject you intend to model. Nevertheless, the promise NLP offers for modeling is incredible.

Just imagine any skill that you want to acquire. Neuro-linguistic programming can show you how you can make that skill your own. There are only two requirements:

  • You must have the raw talent to build on. In other words, I am not, starting off at the age of 52, going to become a professional athlete.

  • You must find someone sufficiently skillful in the area you want to model and be able to spend time observing that person to find what that person’s strategies are.

Now I’ll grant you there is a lot more involved than what I have briefly discussed here. In the next article in this series, I’ll give you a reading list of books and materials you can use to learn more about NLP and modeling.

How to Lose Weight with Hypnosis

Have you wondered how to lose weight with hypnosis?

Does it seem very voodoo-ish, with a smarmy hypnotist waving a watch back and forth in front self hypnosis techniques your face?

If so, you’ve been watching too many old movies!

Think of hypnosis as a new way to communicate with yourself, “thinking yourself thin,” if you will.

Our feelings determine our actions, even when those actions are irrational and self-destructive. Overeating is definitely irrational and self-destructive.

“Good going! You didn’t need that cupcake, and you truly didn’t even want it, either!”

NLP in Action - How To Create Super Motivation (Part Three)

Is it really possible to create super motivation in a half hour or less?

Think about the impact this question could have self hypnosis free your life if the answer is true. Any action, any behavior, any task that self hypnosis mental control now put off or hate to do, could instantly become pleasurable free self hypnosis downloads you could condition yourself to do it without all the endless self reproach you probably inflict upon yourself now.

Well the truth is that the science of NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) has made it possible for you to create such instant super motivation in your life. And this motivation is not created with so-called “willpower”. Instead this motivation is created by linking pleasure or pain with the behavior you want to change.

In the first article in this series, I put it like this:

Every change we create in our behavior results from changing how we associate that behavior to either pleasure or pain. Our mind automatically creates these links, with or without our conscious awareness that an association exists.

Now in the last article, I left you hanging (sorry) as I began to explain how to use this technique. We were using a hypothetical example that you are a college student who is having difficulty motivating yourself to study on a regular basis.

At the same time, we imagined that you also LOVE to ski. You cannot wait until winter comes self hypnosis techniques the snow starts to fall so you can head to the mountains. Absolutely nothing in your life is as much fun to you as skiing.

When I ended the last article, we were beginning to show how a link or association can be created between studying and the pleasure you derive from skiing. (By the way, if you are waiting for an apology from me for keeping you in suspense, don’t hold your breath. I WANT you to read this article and the ones that follow it as well).

Step one: Visualize yourself doing the target behavior (studying). As you visualize this, create a trigger for this by doing something like pinching your right earlobe. Do this for a few minutes until pinching your right earlobe is linked in your mind with this visual image of yourself studying.

Step two: Now visualize yourself doing the thing you enjoy doing (skiing). As you visualize this, create a second trigger by doing something like pinching your left earlobe. Do this for a few moments until pinching your left earlobe causes you to feel the pleasure you normally experience when you are skiing.

Step three: Merge these two visual images together by pinching both earlobes (or whatever stimuli you gave yourself) simultaneously. For a few moments, the two images of yourself skiing and studying will flash back and forth until they create a single impression. Don’t sweat this step. It will probably happen before you are aware it has been done.

Now there is still some fine tuning to do on this technique (I still want you to keep reading the articles in this series) but for now, when you want to motivate yourself to study, all you must do is pinch both earlobes simultaneously until you feel the same pleasurable sensations of skiing when you imagine yourself studying.

How You Should Always Start Learning NLP

So you’ve seen someone performing a rapid-change technique designed by a practicioner of NLP. Or, a friend of yours told you of free self hypnosis scripts incredible seminar he just came back from where a master of NLP was removing everyone’s limitations. And now you’re incredibly curious to learn self esteem hypnosis to do it yourself.

OK. What to do now?

The first self hypnosis techniques absolute most important thing you can do is to witness applications of NLP in action. Go to an introductory seminar, find a practicioner in your area and go in for a session. One way or another, you have to feel it first.

That’s where it begins.

“OK Steve, I’m done. I’ve already seen a prac. in action. What next?”

In the next step of your learning, you’ll want to understand the basic framework of NLP, which consists in the three following pieces:

  1. Learn the NLP epistemology. The first thing you must know and master is how people build their model of the world. That’s pretty much what “epistemology” means: how we know what we know. That comes before anything else. The only source I’ve found that attempts to describe and explain it is the book “Whispering In The Wind” by John Grinder. And it’s not learner-friendly. Fortunately, I devote tons of time and space to this in my upcoming course, Learning and Mastering NLP.
  2. Learn how to map people’s model of the world. It’s one thing to know how people build their model of the world. It’s quite another to be able to map it out yourself. While the NLP epistemology is a piece of knowledge, this one is a skill. This one demands that you actually produce results. This one starts differentiating those who talk from those who do. This is where the rubber meets the road.
  3. Learn how to change people’s model of the world. Once you know how to self hypnosis free and map people’s model of the world, you must learn how to alter it. This is the third level of mastery in NLP.

Also, remember that you must apply all these skills with regard to yourself all the time. Otherwise, you won’t achieve the state of congruency necessary to powerfully influence others.

Now, take some time and figure out where you lie exactly on the spectrum of mastering NLP. Perhaps you’ve incorporated into your toolkit bits and pieces of all three levels. But have you fully completed level 1? If not, get started today!
